The governors of Edward Wilson Primary School meet four times a year as a Full Governing Board (FGB) and each of our two committees (the CCC-Curriculum, Children and Community- and the Resources Committee) also meets six times a year. Minutes from the Full Governing Board meetings can be found below, as can details of our Governing Board, including the names, areas of responsibility and terms of appointment for each governor. Governors are kept informed about the progress and key information about the school through:

• Regular updates on the online platform GovernorHub
• Presentations from Leads at the beginning of all FGB meetings
• Regular meetings with the relevant Lead/s and co-completion of a Link Monitoring document, which is then shared with the FGB
• The Headteacher's Report to Governors, presented and discussed at each FGB
• Regular visits to the school and discussions with pupils

Working with the Headteacher, the SLT and other Leads, the Governors play an important role in helping shape and develop the strategic direction of the school; providing skilled support and challenge to ensure that our aspirational targets are achieved.

OUR GOVERNORS ARE:

MR SIMON MAIR
Chair

Simon has been a governor at Edward Wilson Primary School since 2016 and serves as Chair of the Governing Body.

Professionally, Simon works in cyber security, technology and risk management, bringing senior leadership experience from government, financial and professional services. He also represents primary school governors on Westminster’s Schools Forum, contributing to wider discussions on education and school funding across the borough.

As Chair, Simon works closely with the Headteacher and Governing Body to provide strategic leadership, support and constructive challenge. He is committed to ensuring Edward Wilson remains an inclusive, ambitious and supportive school where every child has the opportunity to thrive.

MRS NARIMAN ABDELRAHMAN

Parent Governor

Nariman is a parent governor and has one child who attends Edward Wilson Primary School, with two older children who attended prior to secondary school. Nariman is also a member of our Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) which works to help communicate key information within our community and deliver cultural celebrations at school.

MR MATHIEU HALPIN

Matt has been a governor at Edward Wilson Primary since 2026. Matt is currently an AI & Transformation Director at British Telecom, where he co-leads the company's modernisation effort. He has a background in tax law, finance, and management consulting, having previously worked at McKinsey & Company for ten years. Originally from Montreal (Canada), Matt previously sat on the Board of Directors of three educational charities including one he co-founded, called Aim For 3: a charity that trains sports coaches to support young people from underserved communities.  

MRS FAHIMAH ISLAM

Fahimah has been a parent governor at Edward Wilson Primary School since 2026, as well as a parent and member of staff at the school. She has two children who attend the school and is passionate about supporting the school community and helping children to thrive. Outside of school, Fahimah enjoys reading, baking and hiking.

MR THOMAS JENNINGS

Co- opted

Thomas has been a governor at Edward Wilson Primary since 2014. Thomas is currently an Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills, a leading international law firm, where he specialises in commercial litigation and dispute resolution. Thomas has a keen interest in music, theatre and sport and is passionate about child literacy. Thomas has previous experience of working with children and was formerly employed as a drama teacher at the European School in Brussels, Belgium.

MS KATY LAWRENCE

Headteacher

Ms Lawrence has been Headteacher of Edward Wilson since September 2025, following leadership roles in Lambeth and Ealing. Ms Lawrence has an MA in Social Justice and Education and is passionate about all children receiving a meaningful education that prepares them for a successful future. She is married with two teenaged children.

MS JO-ANNE LING

Staff Representative

Ms Ling is the Lead for the Early Years Foundation Stage. Ms Ling has worked at Edward Wilson since 2000. She is passionate about inclusion and provides the best, smiliest and most expert welcome to the school for our youngest pupils. Ms Ling is able to advocate for inclusion and Early Years through her role as Staff Governor. 

MS AMY POLGLASE

Chair of CCC Committee

Amy works within safeguarding in her professional capacity as a CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) Practitioner and a SWE (Social Work England) Registered Social Worker. She brings this expertise and passion for keeping children safe into her work within the Governing Board in general, and as link Safeguarding Governor in particular. 

MRS ANJUNA PRASER

Chair of Resources Committee

Anjuna is a Director for Structuring and Deal Accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and is Chair of the Resources Committee. Outside of work and governance, Anjuna has a young family.
